Tina Turner sang the lead on a track titled “A Fool in Love,” which was released as “Ike and Tina Turner,” and became a huge R&B success, quickly crossing over into the pop charts. Not long after, they, along with their group was touring as the Ike and Tina Turner Review, becoming well-known for their electrifying stage performances; capitalizing on the success of “A Fool in Love” by releasing a string of successful follow-up singles in 1961, including “It’s Gonna Work Out Fine,” “Poor Fool” and “Proud Mary,” which was later released in 1991 as a cover album.
