International Woman’s Day 2016

“He is not my king, I am not his Queen we are merely partners in this journey of life, equal in our pursuits of greatness” ~ Etta D. Richards.

Everyday is woman’s day for me. Unfortunately it’s not the same for many woman around the world whose voices are silenced by bigotry and violence; woman who are treated as second class citizens even though they bring forth life, stand firm in being that additional pillar of strength to their partners, husbands and families. Women are often the guardians, storytellers, peacemakers of their communities, yet they are left by the wayside. Women are often the forerunners in education, yet they have to fight for equal pay.
I’ve always pondered as to why the opposite sex often see us as a threat, what are they afraid of? That we might do a better job of running the world than they do? Or simply that they know the power we have and are afraid that one day the tables may turn and they be defined the weaker sex. Mother’s raise your daughters to know their true worth, raise your sons to value woman, respect and honour women!
“The day will come when men will recognise woman as his peer, not only at the fireside, but in councils of the nation. Then, and not until then, will there be the perfect comradeship, the ideal union between the sexes that shall result in the highest development of the race.”
