“I am determined to be cheerful and happy in whatever situation I may find myself. For I have learned that the greater part of our misery or unhappiness is determined not by our circumstance but by our disposition.” ~ Martha Washington
Embracing Happiness Pt. 1
I’m generally a happy person when the world gives me a dozen reasons to cry. I find one reason to smile, it doesn’t mean I walk around all day with a smile on my face. Happiness doesn’t always me laughing out loud or having a party, happiness is something that you carry around with you, it puts a ‘pep in our step.’ It makes us feel good.
In addition to making us feel good, it makes us more creative so that we’re better able to see the bigger picture. Happiness actually improves all aspects of our lives.
To bring happiness into your life….
1. Set an intention
Intentions create reality and every aspect of your life deserves at least one!
Set your intention on love, fun, joy, compassion and caring for yourself. Have fun continuously, and feed your creativity, and passion. I’ve taken up a new hobby of collecting colouring pages. It’s just as relaxing filling those in now, as it did when I was a child.
2. Hold it in your image
No matter the situation, think of yourself an ecstatically happy person! As I said before, you don’t have to walk around with a smile on your face all day to express happiness, because that would just be creepy…Your self-concept keeps you locked into a reality that will support your self-concept. Change your vision of yourself, and you will change your reality.
3. Empower yourself
It’s hard to feel happy if you feel powerless and hopeless. Though some people have good reason to feel this way, and perhaps happiness eludes them. Don’t count yourself as one of those persons. But like all things, it doesn’t come overnight and it doesn’t happen just by saying it. If you have beliefs that deny who you are, and downplay your power, implying that you don’t deserve a phenomenal and exciting life, then you won’t have it.
Happiness is a work in progress, if you haven’t started already, sent your intentions, hold it in your image, and empower yourself!
I truly loved this. Things aren’t meant to always be great, but there is always beauty in everything, even our own failures.

A happy mind is a healthy mind, as someone once said. This post of such an uplifting reminder of why we should choose happiness over our emotions. I’ve also gotten into using adult coloring books, it’s so relaxing and like you said, just as enjoyable as when I was a little girl. Keep up the good job of bringing daily inspiration to your readers Etta.

There are many reasons it is better to choose happiness over other emotions. As you said, it makes us feel good which is reason enough. Sometimes, reaching a happy state of mind can only be achieved by changing our outlook and focus.

Most people anticipate instant gratification and happiness, without realising it can only be achieved a little at a time.
