“Plenty of people miss their share of happiness, not because they never found it, but because they didn’t stop to enjoy it.” ~William Feather
Embracing Happiness Pt. 2
If you’re facing life’s challenges light heartedly, then you’re track, doing all the right things. Keep it going! If you’re drudging along dragging your heart behind. STOP!! Gather your thoughts, find one thing that makes your heart do a back flip and sing while doing it. Put behind you everything that does not bring you happiness. Impossible you say?
I say nothing is impossible, as Audrey Hepburn said “The word itself says, I’m Possible! Everyone deserves to be happy, it takes a lot more energy to be miserable and sad than it is to be happy. Why not choose happiness?
Continuing with the list of things that can help bring happiness to your life…….
4. SLOW DOWN!
One of the biggest happiness stealers is multi-tasking- Guilty! I used to pride myself in being able to multi-task. Then I read somewhere that it doesn’t work, because even if you’re doing multiply things at once, your mind is really only focusing and processing one task. So you’re kinda like wasting energy. Make a list of what needs to be done, then do them ONE at a time. Yeah I know you can respond to an email and answer the phone at the same time. But will you be paying attention to the person on the phone as you try to concentrate on the content of that email?
5. Honour what feeds your soul!
We all have things that nurture us, that feed our soul and rejuvenate us. Mine is solitude and lots of it. Whether it’s staying an extra few minutes in bed, taking a walk in the park or simply ignoring a conversation. Yeah! If I’m too wired, my brain shuts down automatically and the conversation goes over my head. So if we’re in a conversation and I haven’t responded to you in the past 5 minutes. Give me a few minutes to recharge.
What feeds the soul are things that benefits YOU. Things that you love doing, things that adds to your existence and doing things that nurture you is a key to staying happy.
6. Take good care of you– I can’t stress this enough!
Your body has needs, not proving those needs can have a debilitating effect on your physical and emotional wellbeing……A healthy diet, moderate exercise, soul searching! Give your body what it needs and it will be kind to you!
