Life is like an ever-shifting kaleidoscope – a slight change, and all patterns alter. ~Sharon Salzberg
Summer decided to take a day off, and the rain clouds have comfortably settled in. I just love jolly ‘ole Scotland. You’d think after 2 years I would be used to this constant temperamental weather, NO I haven’t, but I’m enjoying it all the same. It takes a whole lot more than bad weather to dampen my day.
When I see so many of my friends (and I use this word loosely) on social media complaining about having a bad day or complaining about their relationships, jobs, and social ills, etc. I want to shake them and say “wake up sheeple, stop living your life online.”
What they fail to realise is that Social Media, when used correctly can be a wonderful thing. But when used irresponsibly can be a sad place where you can be whomever you want to be. Where liars tell more lies, losers are now “CEOs”, enemies are cloaked as friends, many friends are cloaked in jealousy, weak people are cyber thugs, strong people are often doubting themselves, haters complain about haters, and every relationship is loving & secure…..When really they’re lonely & insecure!
The internet has become much like watching reality TV. You notice someone else online doing something cool, and you feel a little insecure because you’re not doing anything as cool as that. Without realising it, you’re defining yourself in terms of what others are doing, what others have and what others are thinking of you. When instead you should be thinking about how to improve yourself, then doing something as cool as that other person evaporates, and you can become content with who you already are.
~Happy Friday and have an awesome weekend everyone!
