“All human plans are subject to ruthless revision by Nature, or Fate, or whatever one preferred to call the powers behind the Universe.”
~Arthur C. Clarke
Modern life is so full of pressures pushing us this way and that! Leaving most of us to react by trying to impose some order in our lives; while society , on the other hand, tries to impose chaos with its endless laws and regulations.
There’s no surprise that we as human beings thriving for order are frightened by disorder. It frightens us because all that disorder is unpredictable and out of our control, therefore it makes us feel stressed. Like I am right now. After the devastating Hurricane that hit my island home in The Bahamas; where many were left homeless I’m feeling it, with all of my senses on high alert and working over time. I was even more frantic after not hearing from my sister for 3 days after the storm; in fact, I’ve still not spoken to her, but have gotten news that she weathered the storm with minimum damage to home or self. So that has brought me much comfort.
Having survived many storms, natural disasters like Hurricanes and personal storms. I know things have a way of working themselves out; there is no real harm done to your existence, just minor inconveniences to daily life. Yet your body, mentally and physically react very strongly, expressing fear and discomfort when anything out of the norm is introduced into our lives. The problem is that all the struggle, worry, planning, and controlling runs against the fabric of life because life compresses them in a single thread. Even though our ego hates unpredictability, in life you cannot have chaos without disorder. It’s just one of those rules we must live with!
~ Have a wonderful Tuesday!
