Terrific Tuesday-Don’t Be Envious of Other People’s Story

“The two hardest tests on the spiritual road are the patience to wait for the right moment and the courage not to be disappointed with what we encounter.” ~Paulo Coelho

I love all animals and believe that they all demand the same respect, love and appreciation. But I do love the lesson in this story.

An elephant and a dog became pregnant at the same time. Three months down the line the dog gave birth to six puppies. Six months later the dog was pregnant again, and nine months on it gave birth to another dozen puppies. The pattern continued.

On the eighteenth month, the dog approached the elephant questioning, “Are you sure that you are pregnant? We became pregnant on the same date, I have given birth three times to a dozen puppies and they are now grown to become big dogs, yet you are still pregnant. What’s going on?”. The elephant replied, “There is something I want you to understand. What I am carrying is not a puppy but an elephant. I only give birth to one in two years. When my baby hits the ground, the earth feels it. When my baby crosses the road, human beings stop and watch in admiration, what I carry draws attention. So what I’m carrying is mighty and great.”

Don’t lose faith when you see others receive answers to their prayers. Don’t be envious of other people’s story. If you haven’t received your own blessings, don’t despair. Say to yourself “My time is coming!”

Many times you may see others who seem to have everything dropped in their laps and it becomes easy to envy people who have what may be perceived as an unlimited streak of good luck or success.  Stay encouraged! Be patient, that person who’s celebrating was once on the sidelines waiting for their storm to over. They were once impatient about their delivery date and wondering why their goals and dreams haven’t come to fruition.

  2. What a lovely view of our journey. Everyone is at a different stage of life. God opens different doors for each of us. Sometimes we simply have to enjoy the journey, the process, God allows us to live as individuals knowing we will come out stronger and better.
