“We all have two choices: We can make a living or we can design a life. ” Jim Rohn
If you’re one of the millions like myself, who set goals for themselves. You probably doing so to make yourself feel good about who you are and the direction you’d like your life to go. The truth of the matter, setting goals don’t necessarily make you a better person. What adds value to your life, what makes you better then you were before are the things you do along the way in achieving those goals and the person you become after you’ve achieved those goals.
It takes deep concentration to decide what goals are right for you and which ones you want to set for yourself. It takes a powerful force to shape your dreams and give you the courage to take action in performing, what’s needed to achieve those goals because in order to get from point A to point B, means stretching yourself to the limit. It means going beyond the point that society said was off limits.
“Nothing is more powerful than a person driven by the desire to achieve their goals”
~Etta D Richards
It doesn’t matter what you believe in, life was design in such a way that we live short term with a long-term view. Despite living in the present, right here, right now! Our hopes, our dreams, our goals are stamped with a future date. Which is why you work for a paycheck at the end of the month, why you try to get in shape to achieve that summer beach body, why you’re setting goals to have future success. If everything came to you all at once, there would be no personal growth. If you woke up tomorrow morning with that summer body, they’ll be no motivation to go to the gym. If you wrote your goals down today and they were all achieved an hour later, there would be nothing to work towards, no force pushing you to improve yourself or obstacles to stretch your productivity. Our purpose is to live in the moment (short term) in order to prepare ourselves for the rewards of the future (long term view).
The only way you can make a consciously sound decision on what it is you want in the future is to live in the NOW! To know where you are right now with complete clarity. Where are you? Worried about tomorrow? Thinking about problems that haven’t arisen or may not even cross your path? Take stock of your current situation, evolution allows you to determine your present situation and decide where you want to go from where you stand right now in the present.
