Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it. ~Charles R. Swindoll
Life is a series of learning experiences, just when you think you’ve learned it all, another lesson comes along. This week has been a productive one, I’ve been walking with my heads in the clouds which is unusual especially due to the fact that nothing really exceptional happened this week. I’m finishing up my contract at work earlier than anticipated, something that I was initially disappointed in but later looked at the bright side of it and appreciated having had the opportunity to have worked with such an amazing team.
Given my first work experiences here in Scotland the not so pleasant experience was always at the for the forefront of my mind, at times it even led to my doubting my abilities. So it’s comforting to have found a team that was able to not only reinstate my self-confidence but also encourage my abilities.
What I learned this week!
1. It’s ok to ask for help: I had a wonderful session with Debbie, which allowed me to gain insight into my relationship with my family; my finances and to self-reflect on other issues that were buried. It was a difficult session. It’s like looking in the mirror and seeing what’s actually there! Some of us look in the mirror and see what we want to see rather than facing the harsh reality of truth.
2. Be accepting of others: Don’t judge everyone based on your past experiences instead, forge new friendships, seek out allies and ways be reciprocal.
3. Only you know what’s good for you: Trust your instincts go after what you truly want. Warren Buffet was true in saying, “Taking a job to build your resume is like saving up sex for old age.” Pursue that which brings you joy, all else will fall into place eventually.
This is also my contribution to Debbie’s Forgiving Friday series, where she writes about and invite others to share their thoughts on Forgiveness, Self-Love and Personal Growth. Debbie, thank you and I am so grateful the opportunity to contribute to your blog.
