There are studies after studies to find out what makes us happy. What these studies have managed to determined is that happiness is an overwhelming feeling that boost our well-being and existence. There’s no magic formula to happiness because happiness means something different to different people. The one common thing regarding happiness is that Happiness is more determined by what happens to us internally rather than externally and it all depends on how we look at the situations in our lives.
The common denominator to invoking happiness is not what you may believe it to be. If you ask anyone what makes them happy more often than not that person would say money. Others may say, family, a new home, a new job or even a vacation. For me, I would say a little bit of both. What no ever mentions though is gratitude or mindfulness. The pursuit of happiness is probably top of the list of ambitions most, if not all of us have. Happiness is something our souls crave, it’s something life pushes us towards and to obtain it, all that’s needed is for the pessimist mind to retrain itself to a more optimistic outlook. You may say give me what I want and I’ll be happy. But you have to ask yourself, is a happy child one who always gets their own way and is a child who gets its own always way happy?
The art fo happiness takes discipline. Discipline to think positively. Discipline to change your perspective and to choose appreciation over gratification. If you can find happiness when your the whole world is in chaos, you have achieved a lot. Be grateful for that.
