The mind is a wonderful thing. It’s also a total liar and an excuse machine that frequently tries to convince us not to take actions we know are good for us. In the end, this prevents many positive changes from taking place in our lives.
I’ve had to learn to watch these lies and excuses very carefully in order to make the positive changes I’ve made in my life: a healthier diet, regular exercise, meditation, more sleep, daily writing, better planning, less procrastination, more focus, etc.
If I hadn’t learned about these lies and excuses, and how to suppress them, I would never have succeeded in making these positive changes. In fact, until I knew better, I had failed countless times when I was young because my mind’s deceptive tendencies used to get the best of me.
Atheist, Theist, or Agnostic. God, Karma, The Universal Laws. Even if you don’t believe in GOD, you have to believe in something, to believe in nothing is to have no belief in yourself. This was not meant to be a lesson in any form of Religion, but rather a lesson in Consciousness, a lesson in Self and Self worth. To value oneself you must first awaken your consciousness, rely on your own thoughts instead of those of others.
Consciousness and Faith are one in the same and are inseparable from each other; both determining and creating the same end result. Consciousness is the determining factor in how faith works in life. Faith itself is reflected through the quality of consciousness used by you. For the atheist and agnostic the word “faith” alienates because it’s been coined through religious practices, yet whether you look at it from a religious stand point or not, spiritual or scientific, the inevitable outcome is unwavering because spirituality have nothing to do with the dogma of man made religion.
The prefix vict come from the Latin Root word meaning to conquer. However, there are two words which share this prefix: victor which means to conquer and the victim which means to be conquered. Two words that are similar in origin but polar in meaning.
“The best way to overcome undesirable or negative thoughts and feelings is to cultivate the positive ones.”
Pity Parties can sometimes get your creative juices flowing, somewhere between feeling sorry for yourself and reflections on the past creativity is born as your soul pours itself onto paper. Written between selfish madness and thinking about the way forward.
Faded in discord;
Disappointed! Like the spine of a book newly released from its press I remained unbowed, unbent, unbroken…..
Dejected! Through each painful moment of my life, I remained unbowed, unbent, unbroken….
Misused! With wounded spirit, on bended knees, I remained, unbowed, unbent, unbroken….
