Build Better Habits to Take You to the Next Act

All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players, they have their exits and their entrances and one man in his time plays many parts.

-William Shakespeare

I often joke about reinventing myself and the response that comes back is, “again?”. Looking back at old photographs there’s been lots of reinventing and sometimes I wonder, where did she go and what is she doing now? Just as each stage in my life required a different me, I needed to be a different mindset to appreciate those stages. The 16-year-old me would have never appreciated the 20-year-old me. The 20-year-old me definitely would not have appreciated the 26-year old me. That 20 year old would’ve been scared shitless at the thought be becoming a Mom and guardian of another life. Now when I compare the image looking back at me, to imagines in those photographs of me at 16, 20, 30, even 40. None compares to this 50+year old soul I see staring back at me.

This infinite soul that knows the clock is ticking faster each day, that the hours can no longer be wasted on frivolous actions that won’t bring it joy, peace or happiness. Call it intuition, call it a survival mechanism but at some point in our lives, reinventing ourselves no longer becomes an option, it becomes mandatory. Why? Because we cannot spend the rest of our time on this Earth acting the same scene we’ve been acting during our first, second or third acts.

Have The Courage To Start Over!

it’s never too late to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the courage to start all over again.

The Process Of Reinventing Ourselves

Our thoughts about what we are and what we can be precisely determine what we can be.

~Anthony Robbins

In life, there is seldom happiness or success without hard times or struggle. Coming out of our mother’s womb is a struggle for life as we take in our first breath and the time we leave this Earth we struggle for life as we take our last. Life is a constant journey where we learn to leap over boundaries and climb mountains while avoiding all the potholes along the way.  Yet we continue to push forward towards happiness, success and the passion for life. It’s human nature to want comfort, happiness and joy, it’s knitted into our DNA.

We live through a daily process of designing and redesigning ourselves to adjust to every challenge that presents itself thinking and doing the things that we feel will remove the obstacles and struggle from our lives. While we may think bits and pieces or our parents create us, sure they have contributed to our existence but we are also the creation our experiences, they is one also shape who we are, keeping us in constant evolution. Our sense of what life is, what life should be can only be changed through changing our thoughts, views and the way we handle the struggles that come our way.

I am constantly evolving , I am not the same person I was last year, last month or even last week. There have been so many situation that has forced me to adapt, situation that required a different me, a stronger me. Like a soft shell lobster, I’ve had to shed my old armour and put on a new one, a more resilient one. I’ve had to reassess my stations in life and rebuild a body that could withstand the storms because I know greater stress can come if I don’t adjust my sails and that trying to sail against the wind those mountains will only get higher, obstacles get larger and struggles harder. Once your mind has accepted that and not cling to the negativity you can adapt to handle anything that comes your way.

“The most important journey you will take in your life will usually be the one of self-transformation. Often, this is the scariest because it requires the greatest changes, in your life.”   ~Shannon L. Alder

Everything changes, nothing remains the same. By this law of change, we must reinvent ourselves to adjust accordingly. There’s no better time to transform your life than right  NOW!

The Caterpillar has to the best example of transformation.  We should all take notes from a butterfly and live a life of transformation,  freedom and beauty? Whether it’s a change in circumstance, an end of a relationship, relocating or changing jobs; life offers many opportunities for reinventing yourself. Any major shift in your life forces you to think and do things differently. Reinventing yourself means completely overhauling what you believe and how you feel about all aspects of your life.
