When you look at your body in the mirror, where do your eyes go first? Odds are, your gaze goes straight to your “trouble spots”—the places you’d love to change, if only you had the time, the money or the energy.
Maybe you straighten your spine, fluff your hair or use your hands to smooth your stomach. Or maybe you grunt and criticize yourself for a moment. Why can’t you just look…better.
“Never forget that once upon a time, in an unguarded moment, you recognized yourself as a friend.” ~Elizabeth Gilbert
Everything that happens in your life is rooted in your sense of self-worth. How we relate to others, how we treat them and how we treat ourselves. We are raised on the Social “Kool-Aid” that you’re not beautiful unless you’re wafer thin. You won’t have a sense of belonging unless you follow the masses of socially acceptable behaviour. There’s an endless list of do’s and don’t we are practically spoon fed from birth. Human beings are probably the only species on the planet with self-imposed restrictions on worthiness.
When your values are clear to you, making decisions becomes easier.
~Roy E. Disney

I had to grow into my decision-making skills, I’m still not an expert and don’t think I ever will, my decision fatigue kicks in every time. It wasn’t easy but life happens when we least expect it.
“I refuse to permit anything or anyone to steal my joy regardless of how dire the circumstance is. Happiness is now a way of living for me because I decided a decade ago that it was time to take charge and become the captain of my own thoughts and beliefs.”
This is my submission to Debbie’s Forgiving Friday series, where she writes about and invite others to share their thoughts on Forgiveness, Self-Love and Personal Growth.
