Terrific Tuesday

two-wolves

Every day we have plenty of opportunities to get angry, stressed or offended. But what you’re doing when you indulge these negative emotions is giving something outside yourself power over your happiness. You can choose to not let little things upset you. ~Joel Osteen

Two Wolves and Anger

A grandfather is talking with his grandson and he says there are two wolves inside of us which are always at war with each other.

One of them is a good wolf which represents things like kindness, bravery and love. The other is a bad wolf, which represents things like greed, hatred and fear.

The grandson stops and thinks about it for a second then he looks up at his grandfather and says, “Grandfather, which one wins?”

The grandfather quietly replies.

This is one of my favourite parables because it rings truth; it’s a great reminder to take note as to which wolf I’m feeding. It’s easy to fall into the trap of feeding the wolf of greed, hatred, and fear. As some people rule by all three. The story of the two wolves also reminds me of another proverb ………”he who angers you, controls you.” We all get angry at situations or people. But you should never allow someone else to put a switch on your emotions, flicking them off and on like a light switch.

It take a lot of self control to ignore provocation, whether intentional or by habit. Just remember that some people are simply feeding into that bad wolf. Some people simply have low self-esteem or see you as a threat. I had to remind myself lately that, the way people treat me, says nothing about me, rather it speaks volume about them.

Which wolf are you feeding?
