Wonderful Wednesday-There’s No Time Like The Present, To Set New Goals

“What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.” ~ Zig Ziglar

Life is not set in stone, events, situations, circumstances can be changed. It’s ok if you’re not married by 30, haven’t found a job by 25  or become manager of your current job by 40.  There’s no penalty in not achieving all those things by a certain age, you are allowed to take the time to figure things ago, you’re allowed to ditch the programming that life is a process of….. finishing high school, going to college or university, starting your career and working your way to the top. All of which should be done before you hit 50 because after that you’re over the hill, washed up and on your way to the cold halls of retirement.  Right?

Well, I’ll give you some consultation. You don’t have to ruin your life worrying about what you have or haven’t done by a certain age. I’m past 40, still adding to my bucket list, still haven’t been to India or Australia and still haven’t published my first book.  I’m also not the same person I was at 30, a lot of the things I had set forth in my 20s to be achieved by 30 were changed or removed from my list altogether. I just got tired ruining my life by worrying about what I had or hadn’t achieved by each birthday.

So many people ruin their lives by letting their past dictate their future. Your past does not define who you are! It doesn’t dictate where you’re going and most of all the past no longer exist. By not allowing yourself to move past missed opportunities and reflecting on things that didn’t go as planned, leaves you stuck in the past and unable enjoy the present because it’s constantly being saturated with what you have been programmed to perceive as failures.

If you’re in your twilight years, spending time reflecting on what you should’ve done at 20, 30 or 50 is a complete waste of the present. There is no time like the present to achieve something new.
