The Measure Of Success!

Success is not a privilege reserved for a selected few; success belongs to YOU! But success is never handed out, it’s something that has to be nurtured from the inside. When you succeed on the inside, by taking on the thoughts and actions of a successful person, the results will show on the outside. Success is NOT always measured by monetary value, its measured by achieving the goals you have set forth for yourself.

My Five Cents On Success:

1. Do and Dare!

Nothing is impossible, the word itself says I’m Possible” ~ Audrey Hepburn

Are you daring  enough to do the impossible?  There should never be a time in your life when you’re not attempting something impossible.  It is the impossible that stretches you and shows you what you can become. Do and dare, get out of your comfort zone and stretch yourself.  Stretch your workload, stretch your expectations, and by all means stretch your imagination.

2. Double Your Failure Rate!

Would you like me to give you a formula for success? It’s quite simple, really. Double your rate of failure. You are thinking of failure as the enemy of success. But it isn’t at all. You can be discouraged by failure or you can learn from it, So go ahead and make mistakes. Make all you can. Because remember that’s where you will find success.” ~Thomas J. Watson

The road to success is littered with FAILURE. This is something I’m still trying to get to grips with, even after the failures in my life, it still surprises me. No one succeeds without failure or with a handful of failures. You need to fail, and fail, and fail some more; failure is the path to success. It teaches us the lessons we need in order to be successful. I knew a lawyer who failed the Bar four times, though many, including his parents, told him to give up and choose another career he didn’t give up. He eventually passed the Bar and went on to have one of the most successful law firms in the country. It’s through stumbling that you learn how to succeed. They prepare you for success.

3. Use Your Will!

“Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life–think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success.”~Swami Vivekananda

How great is your “will” or “desire?” You must desire to success. Like everything else more than you desire success, the greater your motivation. For instance, I have a desire to be a best selling author, world traveler and Entrepreneur. I may have “failed” along the way, but my failures only fed my desire. I used to be intimidated by successful people. Then I realized that the only difference between a person of success and me, was not my lack of strength or knowledge, because I was strong and did have knowledge; but was lacking the will to succeed!

Successful people have a burning desire to see their goal realized. Without that desire you won’t have the motivation to accomplish your goal(s).

4. You need Determination and Commitment

13848_603990182986384_1996264298_nDesire is the key to motivation, but it’s the determination and commitment to an unrelenting pursuit of your goal – a commitment to excellence – that will enable you to attain the success you seek.” ~Mario Andretti

Do you have determination? A pound of determination is worth more than a pound of interest. You must have just an ounce of determination. You have express more than just interest, you have to hold to that determination like it’s your lucky penny. Desire, determination and commitment will strategically position you to succeed.

5. Excellence Also Required!
No one ever attains very eminent success by simply doing what is required of him; it is the amount and excellence of what is over and above the required that determines the greatness of ultimate distinction.” ~Charles Kendall Adams

Par excellence must be the order of the day. Always!! To be the best, you must provide the best; you must give people that which they cannot get anywhere else. Whether you goal is to grow your business, build better relationships, become a better writer, or speaker. Be the best can be at whatever you do!

6. Vision is Necessary

The vision that you glorify in your mind, the ideal that you enthrone in your heart – this you will build your life by, and this you will become.”  ~James Allen

Visualize……Visualize…..Visualize! Ponder, meditate, dwell on your success. Only through dwelling on success will you create that desire to make success a reality. You must be concise in your vision of what you want to achieve. You must be consumed in your desire must consume you.

7. Go To Success!

“All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them.” ~Walt Disney

You must be driven, success won’t fall at your feet; you must chase down like that last bus on a Friday afternoon after a long day at work. You have to want it more than anything else. Lazy person rarely, if ever, find success; only those who are willing to go that extra mile to find it, those who are willing to chase it down.

Are you ready to go to success? Do you have a concise vision, do you have a desire great it burns from within? Can you accept failure, again and again? If your answer is yes, then you are ready to succeed!

    1. Hi Keri, thank you so much for visiting and leaving your foot prints on my blog. I guess I should do a follow up on finding your dream. The only advice I can give is:
-Follow your passion, we all have something we’re passionate about. Sometime that drives, we sometime call it a hobby, sometimes a skill.
-Pin point what you’re good at or what you enjoy doing most. I’ve always enjoyed writing, mostly poetry. Travel is another another, something included briefly in ‘just me’ section.
-What environment brings you joy-outdoors, culture, living near the beach or the country, trekking the world…..
-Think if money were no object in your life, what would you be doing?
There are tons of ways to discover your dream, it all comes down to centering yourself.
